I am an Associate Professor in the Institute of Communication Studies at the Communication University of China. My research focuses on international communication, digital public diplomacy, and social media and social justice. Methodologically, I combine quantitative and qualitative methods, primarily using computational methods to address social science questions. My work has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Social Media + Society, Journal of Information Technology & Politics, Journalism Practice, International Journal of Communication, Asian Journal of Communication, Journal of Communication Management, Computers in Human Behavior, and Journal of Communication Technology, etc.

I received my doctoral degree from the Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University; MA and BA in journalism from the Communication University of China. Before entering academia, I was a journalist at China National Radio. My roles included editor, reporter, deputy department director, and chief program editor. Being part of one of China's most influential media outlets, I possess profound insights into China's politics, macroeconomics, microeconomics, and the stock market. Over my 11-year journalism career, I have received over 50 awards for outstanding news reporting, including seven China Journalism Awards – the highest accolade in the Chinese journalism industry. My experience in journalism and newsroom management has not only deepened my understanding of society but also honed my insights as a social science researcher with a global perspective and a realistic grasp of the world. It also greatly benefits my classroom teaching and student mentoring and guidance.
